The Beginning

The Spiritual Journey of St. Joseph Word Power Ministry was started in 2012, during the ‘Year of Faith" declared by Pope Benedict XVI, with a deep desire to spread the good news to the people around the United States. It was initiated as a combined effort of the St. Joseph Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group in Tampa and the St. Jude Prayer Group in Brandon. Rev. Fr. George Maliekal, the Vicar of St. Joseph Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Tampa, is the spiritual director of this ministry.

The motivation for this initiative was the desire to reach out to people with the message of the love of our Heavenly Father. It is an unquestionable fact that we spend an innumerable amount of time travelling, either for work or other activities. This leaves many of us in a position where we lack time to listen to the Word of God through spiritual channels, such as at conventions or retreats held in the U.S.A. The audio CDs come in handy for those facing such predicaments.

"Faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ" (Rom. 10:17).
Inspired by this verse from the Scriptures, the CDs are named "Vachana Sandesham." Though it took a while to generate interest in these CDs among people, now the ministry is facing a big demand for the CDs, and people have been testifying about the transforming effects of the word of God. Initially, the ministry was confined only to St. Joseph Syro-Malabar Church, Tampa, and Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Church, Brandon. Now, by the power of the Holy Spirit, it has spread to various other parishes all over the United States.

Approximately 5000 CDs are made every month. We receive no funds from the church or any other sources, relying entirely on God’s providence. This audio CD ministry is a non–profit Catholic Charismatic Renewal Mission that is run with the voluntary support of its beneficiaries.

Our ministry is often backed up by many people, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and fulfils the needs of the ministry through online purchases.
